THAI OPEN Runner Up

Thai Open

Well what a week! Finishing in a tie for 2nd place in the Thailand Open has given me a renewed confidence that can only be achieved from the experience I have just had. I shot rounds of 70,66,67,68 (17 under) and to be totally honest, struck the ball nearly as poorly as I ever have! How does this work you say? Well it's all about my short game which was on song all week. My putting was just tremendous and I got the ball up and down out of many a ball washer!

It has certainly showed me that I can compete at a very high level even when the striking is off. When the long game comes together at the same time as the short stuff, well that combination is going to see me come home with many a chocolate!

It has been a long road to get to a result like this for me and one filled with countless hours of hard work for which there is no guaranteed reward. Was such a good feeling to finally get a financial reward which will keep the dogs away from the door for some time anyway!

Many thanks to all of you for you support and well wishes and may this be the start of a new era.........the Wright Era!!!!!!

THAI OPEN UPDATE
August 27 2010

Well after the first 36 holes here in Thailand, I am currently sitting in a tie for 7th after rounds of 70,66 (8 under).

The weather that was supposed to come in certainly didn't arrive (they breed the weathermen the same here in Thailand as they do in Australia!). We have had great weather and the scores have reflected that. My 66 today looked very mediocre against the best score of the day of 12 under! My room mate Steve Jones played with him and he said he had 20 putts with just 6 putts on the back nine!

I can only do my thing though so I am going out tomorrow to go look for some pins. Today I got off to a slow start in the ball striking department but hung in and remained patient and then things began to flow and the birdies started to come easy. If I can continue this patience theme I should be in good shape and hopefully contention come the back nine on Sunday!

Well that's it from me. I will keep you all posted with a debrief Sunday night. Lets hope it's a good one!
